Professor Dr. Miriam Hess is particularly interested in supervising doctoral students in the areas of primary school teaching and research on teaching quality and quality of teacher education, especially in connection with video analyses.

Her research focuses on video-based teaching, use of videos for teacher education, teaching quality and design, cognitive activation, feedback, personality and learning development of primary school children as well as development of reading and writing skills at primary school age.
