DSH Preparatory Courses

To prepare for the DSH, the Language Centre offers intensive courses in close cooperation with the International Office:

DSH semester courses

These courses prepare you intensively for the examination over a longer period of time (14–15 weeks). Each course comprises 250 periods. There are 20 periods of tuition per week. Lessons take place either daily in the mornings from 8:30 to 11:45 or in the afternoons from 14:00 to 17:15. We confirm your attendance in writing at the end of each course.
In line with the respective level, the courses teach German language skills along with learning strategies and methods for working on the examination tasks. You can find more information on these courses (admission, registration, costs, etc.) on the pages of the International Office.

General information on the DSH preparatory courses:

Teaching staff

Our teachers have German as a first language.
They have a university education (language studies or teacher training) and are specialised in German as a Foreign Language.
They devote a great deal of creativity and personal commitment to your success.
Most of them have several years’ experience in preparing students for the DSH.

Instruction

We teach general standard German (High German).
All the language skills are practised: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Vocabulary and grammar are practised systematically.
We use modern textbooks and the latest teaching materials.
A variety of exercises and a friendly, interactive atmosphere facilitate speedy language acquisition.
We expect regular attendance, active participation in class, and regular completion of homework.
Our classrooms are equipped with all the necessary technical facilities.

If you have any questions about the contents of the courses, please contact Christine Drakew-Naperkowski. She is responsible for coordinating the DSH preparatory courses and the placement test for the DSH courses.
