The Impossible Room (Summer 2022)
A strange disappearance, a locked room mystery, and an eccentric Doctor who might have the answers you are looking for – BUEDG’s summer play of 2022 was created in the spirit of cozy crime fiction in cooperation with the Captivating Criminalities conference hosted in Bamberg that summer.
Dr Wilbur is entertaining guests when they are interrupted by Wilbur’s neighbours – the Dudleys and their daughter Pam – bursting into the living room to ask for her help. The story is simple: Pam Dudley’s fiancé has disappeared. The only catch? He has disappeared from a windowless room, locked from the outside, with no way to get out.
Join Dr Wilbur’s guests, the sceptical Professor Adams and reporters Jennifer and Helen in this short play written by John Murray as they witness Wilbur doing what she does best – solving impossible cases and baffling others with her attention to the little things.
The short crime film was made for Captivating Criminality 8: Crime Fiction, Femininities and Masculinities, the Annual International Crime Fiction Association (ICFA) Conference that was held at the University of Bamberg, 30 June - 02 July 2022.
First showcased at the conference, it is now up on our YouTube Channel for everyone to watch, see here: https://youtu.be/3xKvmYz6Lys
